Support the Office of Administration as a Health and Safety Specialist in Harrisburg, PA, and be part of a dynamic team of safety professionals dedicated to ensuring safety program compliance across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies. Partner with agencies such as the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, Department of Environmental Protection, Department of Agriculture, Milk Marketing Board, and the Environmental Hearing Board to reduce workplace injuries and promote a culture of safety.
Position Overview:
As a vital member of the Conservation and Environmental Delivery Center, this role involves a combination of leadership, program management, and hands-on safety support. Based in Harrisburg, you’ll spend 2-3 days a week in the office or at various worksites across the Commonwealth, with the flexibility of telework on remaining days.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Manage two safety onsite professionals, ensuring they meet agency needs through effective leadership, coaching, and support.
- Service Planning: Organize service requests, utilizing agency action plans to set dates, determine responsibilities, and track completion.
- Training Development: Develop and deliver health and safety training, adapting materials to agency needs and delivering them in-person or via webinar.
- Assessments and Audits: Conduct assessments and audits in alignment with the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP) and agency policies.
- Data Analysis: Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and provide recommendations to assist with trend identification and corrective actions.
- Compliance Support: Provide support for injury/illness prevention, safety, industrial hygiene, and AIPP compliance.
- On-site Support: Independently provide on-site health and safety support, performing technical research and transferring knowledge to agency safety coordinators and employees.
- Client Collaboration: Work collaboratively with flexibility to adapt to client needs, understanding and building relationships through excellent customer service.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health or related field, or Bachelor’s in any field with a PA L&I BWC AIPP Qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of occupational safety experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Strong assessment, verbal, and written communication skills.
