Job Summary:
The Office of Administration is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to work with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies, including the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and State Police, to ensure safety program compliance and enhance workplace safety. This role involves travel to locations across Pennsylvania and occasional on-site office work in Harrisburg.
The Office of Administration is seeking a skilled Health and Safety Specialist to work with Commonwealth of Pennsylvania agencies, including the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and State Police, to ensure safety program compliance and enhance workplace safety. This role involves travel to locations across Pennsylvania and occasional on-site office work in Harrisburg.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage two on-site safety professionals to meet agency needs, including coaching and team development.
- Plan, organize, and fulfill service requests, ensuring timely completion of safety initiatives.
- Develop and deliver health and safety training tailored to agency needs, both in-person and virtually.
- Conduct safety audits, assessments, and incident investigations to ensure compliance with the Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP).
- Analyze injury and illness data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and assist with their implementation.
- Support compliance with industrial hygiene, safety, and injury/illness prevention protocols.
- Collaborate with agency personnel at all levels to foster a strong safety culture and build effective relationships.
- Travel up to 20% of the time, including periodic overnight travel and visits to Harrisburg.
Required Qualifications:
- B.S. degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, or B.S. in any field plus PA L&I BWC AIPP Qualification.
- At least 5 years of occupational safety experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- Excellent assessment, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to pass State Police background checks for facility access.
