Job Title: Safety Consultant – Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR)
Location: Hybrid (Lake Nockamixon, Quakertown, PA, Telework, and Onsite in Eastern PA)

Abel Personnel is hiring on behalf of our client, the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR), for an exciting opportunity to join their team as a Safety Consultant. Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety Action Plan Implementation: Utilize the DCNR action plan to set key deadlines, assign responsibilities, and track progress.
  • Worksite Inspections: Conduct worksite safety inspections primarily in eastern Pennsylvania, ensuring compliance with DCNR safety protocols.
  • Health and Safety Training: Develop and deliver effective safety training programs to DCNR staff, in-person or via webinar. Adapt existing materials or create new content as needed.
  • Safety Audits & Assessments: Perform hazard identification inspections, incident investigations, and AIPP reviews in line with DCNR’s Accident and Illness Prevention Program (AIPP).
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze safety data to identify trends, recommend corrective actions, and create detailed reports for DCNR management.
  • On-Site Support: Provide independent safety support at DCNR worksites, ensuring alignment with safety standards.
  • Client Engagement: Build strong relationships with all levels of DCNR personnel to foster a proactive safety culture through excellent customer service and follow-up.
  • Travel: Travel across the state for safety inspections and training sessions (approximately 50% in summer, less in winter; overall ~20%). Overnight travel is rare.

Qualifications:
  • AIPP certification or working towards certification with at least two years of occupational safety experience, or an AIPP certification with less than two years of safety experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with employees at all levels.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to client needs, and the ability to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience in health and safety inspections, incident investigations, and delivering training programs.
  • Excellent report writing and analytical skills for safety data review and recommendations.
