Compensation: Pay is based on experience and qualifications, starting at $33 per hour and ranging up to $44 per hour.
Position Overview
Abel Personnel is seeking a skilled Network Engineer II on behalf of its client in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. This role combines advanced network engineering with system administration responsibilities to ensure the seamless operation, security, and optimization of the client’s network and system infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Network Infrastructure Support
- Provide elementary-level support for all Wide Area Progressive (WAP) and shared technology systems.
- Assist senior engineers with installations, network maintenance, and support.
Troubleshooting and Monitoring
- Perform elementary troubleshooting of network devices such as routers and switches.
- Monitor and troubleshoot network functions to verify services, detect anomalies, and ensure availability.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain network documentation, including diagrams, procedures, and performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Project Participation
- Assist with planning and participate as a team member in projects related to network delivery.
- Support systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.
System Administration
- Participate in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving hardware, software, and other network/system issues.
- Replace faulty network hardware as needed, ensuring adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
On-Call Support
- Participate in on-call support as needed to ensure network and system availability.
Qualifications
Required:
- Associate degree in a technology field or equivalent network certification and experience.
- CompTIA Network+ certification required; CCNA or equivalent preferred.
- Two years of networking experience in a support capacity.
- Understanding of basic network infrastructure and technology, including WAN/LAN, TCP/IP, UDP, DHCP, routers, switches, and cabling.
- Ability to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
- Willingness to work in a 24/7/365 real-time support environment.
- Ability to travel to district offices as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with networking technologies such as WAN, LAN, ISP, Wireless, VPN, and VPC.
- Knowledge of firewalls (e.g., FortiNet, OPNSense, PFSense, AWS VPN).
- Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Experience with automation tools like Terraform.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, Kubernetes, microservices, and open-source platforms.
- Proficiency in Linux and scripting languages (e.g., Batch, PowerShell, VB scripting).
- Understanding of ITIL practices.
